Annual Road Report
The desire to expand the existing county road network (382 miles) is very much an important aspect of the County Engineer’s Office. However, ensuring the long term effectiveness of our existing transportation system is vital. The key to accomplishing both requires a thorough capital improvement strategy, a strong maintenance plan and the dedication to execute both. The results of this commitment are as follows:
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS
$459,663 was spent resurfacing 3.06 miles of county roads. Continuing this type of effort in the future will ensure that our county roads are resurfaced on a 10 to 15 year cycle.
Note: As part of the 2010 resurfacing work, several roads were repaired and crack sealing was installed in preparation for the 2011 year resurfacing work.
In 2010, a total of $370,000 was spent replacing 3 bridges/large culverts and Repairing a landslide.
In 2010, a total of 1,550,000 was spent on 3 roadway projects.
While there are many tasks associated with the Highway Operations Department, two of the most visible, thus most often asked about are….POTHOLES & SNOW REMOVAL. The following summary hopes to put these activities into perspective:
$ 350,000 was spent fixing “pot holes” and patching pavement.
We have 19 snow routes and 4 hours is the average response time to plow and/or apply salt to all county roads
Highway Operation crews were called into action 17 times applying 8916 tons of salt at a cost of $701,770.

Historic Covered Bridge Closes!

The bridge will not be reopened to traffic until middle or late 2012.” The Stonelick Williams Corner Covered Bridge was built in 1878; it is the only covered bridge in Clermont County. Read more.
